Rural Medical Care

Rural Medical Care

Although our base hospital has been our focus and is now stable and strong, our attention has always been to impact and positively influence the communities we are part of. Towards this end, we have always conducted camps in summer in and around manali and also annually focusing on the district of Lahaul and Spiti, with particular attention to Kaaza and Pangi. These two latter geographic areas are deprived of consistent medical attention. We also conduct annual surgical camps in these regions, catering to surgical needs as part of the NRHM rural surgical camps. Of course 2020 was an exception because of the COVID pandemic.

We have three bases in the following regions

  1. Jibhi in Banjaar block, Kullu district, where we post doctors over the summer and cater to health needs and also conduct village visits targeting health issues.
  2. Madgram, near Udaipur in Lahaul where we have a centre where doctors serve in summer and we conduct targeted camps to provide service like endoscopy, ultrasound, laboratory facilities and minor surgical procedures.
  3. Kaaza in Spiti where we have a centre where again we post doctors in summer to cater to health needs and also where targeted camps are conducted providing facilities like endoscopy, ultrasound, dental and eye check ups.

Dr. Bishan Shasni is our community consultant who spearheads and co ordinates all these activities very ably and with utmost dedication.
